So on November 29th I got the
Buffett News e-mail that right after my two upcoming shows there was going to be another one in Houston, only one week
away! It was free to American Express card members (announced to them from almost a month ago),
so I hopped on the phone to them immediately...turns out I didn't have the right type of Amex card,
and even if I signed up now they still couldn't send me the password for a ticket- they had all been allocated.
Luckily I was able to get a pair for $124 via Craigslist, and my buddy Harshal was psyched to go with me.

Entering the arena the ticket person mentioned all the food and non-alcoholic drinks you wanted to order was free, holy crap! Usually at events you get bent over with the food
prices, very nice! However, I guess at the last two events there was food included too, albeit the entry price was MUCH steeper...
So even though we had stopped at a Whataburger on the drive in (and I even tried to be good with a salad...and some bacon),
I couldn't resist getting a chili cheese dog. Note the cash register- "Amount due $0.00"
And on top of that, we were seated in some sort of club section where there were tables to eat at and you could
order from a grill or full bar. 1st class baby!
I was further impressed with the seating. Although we were in the further half, I felt the angle was better and the
stage still felt close with a good view. And our whole row ended up being unoccupied except for three other people- a waste, but it let us
So Jimmy called this the last stop on the Big Top Tour for the year (I bet the January shows in Sydney will still fall under Big Top).
Versus a "regular" show it was similar with the following exceptions:
No opening warm up
Peter Meyer was replaced
None of the rarer songs in the set list
Jimmy did tell more and longer stories that seemed unpracticed, so a nice differentiator there
Only one encore song vs three, and no solo acoustic
There also seemed to be few actual Parrotheads there, but hopefully it was a good introduction and created new fans, like what happened for me 22yrs ago.
